Our Story

Born from pride in where we come from.

The idea behind ASamplesX began in 2012.

2012 — the idea

A belief that these musical languages deserved better tools.

It came from something simple: a deep pride in the music and cultural heritage of our region, and a belief that these musical languages deserved better tools.

The Arabian Gulf has its own instruments, rhythms, maqamat, articulations, techniques and ways of performing. They are part of a rich living musical culture — yet for composers and producers working with modern music technology, much of that world was difficult to access authentically.

We wanted to change that.

Not by turning our heritage into a collection of stereotypes or a generic “Middle Eastern” sound, but by working with the musicians, instruments and musical knowledge behind it and finding a way to bring that experience into the modern studio.

And we did not rush it.

2020 — the first product

Eight years before it became our first commercial product.

The idea began in 2012. It would take eight years before it became our first commercial product.

In 2020, ASamples launched its first product.

Our goal was to make these sounds available to everyone — whether you grew up with this music and wanted tools that finally understood it, were writing music in this style, needed an authentic sound from the region for a production, or were simply curious and wanted to explore a musical world you had never experienced before.

What authenticity means to us

It was about understanding how it is played.

For us, authenticity was never only about recording the right instrument.

It was about understanding how it is played. The rhythms behind it. The ornaments, articulations and phrasing. The musicians who carry that knowledge. And the small details that make the difference between having the sound of an instrument and actually feeling the music it belongs to.

That philosophy shaped everything that followed.

2026 — ASamples becomes ASamplesX

The X represents that evolution.

Over the next six years, our instruments, sounds and ambitions continued to grow. What began with samples was becoming something much larger: instruments, software, technology, education, new ways to experience regional music, and tools for the people who create with it.

So in 2026, ASamples became ASamplesX.

What the X stands for

It represents our belief that these musical traditions should not only be archived or remembered. They should be experienced, played, explored, transformed and carried into new music.

Today

Our mission reaches far beyond where we began.

We are building tools for composers, producers, musicians and developers around the world — while continuing to draw from the place, culture and musical knowledge that gave ASamplesX its reason to exist.

Because we are proud of where we come from.

And we want the music of our region to be heard, understood and experienced everywhere.

Created in Oman. Built for the world.
